This program has been discontinued due to a lack of interest and competing local programs offering similar benefits, including the City of South Lake Tahoe's Rental Assistance Program.

SJCLT's Motel to Home program provided funds for 1st months' rent & security deposit to eligible families. The program has provided much needed support to families with over 35 school-age children who were living in motels or other substandard housing arrangements.

SJCLT's Emergency Grant program provides funds to help members deal with unexpected costs due to an unforeseen emergency such as a hot water heater or car breakdown. While designed for its members, grants may be extended to non-members. For example, when the Caldor Wildfire prompted the evacuation of South Lake Tahoe, including Sierra Garden Apartments tenants, SJCLT's Board extended eligibility and provided funds to 21 tenant households including mobility impaired and single parents with children.

SJCLT's Tahoe Affordable Home Ownership Enabling Program Preserves

Existing Local Affordable Housing by Either:

Helping 1st-time income-qualified homebuyers purchase an existing home
Purchasing an existing home & selling it to an income-qualified household
Helping a financially troubled household avoid foreclosure & preserve homeownership

By using the Community Land Trust model, all TAHOE Program homes are added to SJCLT's portfolio & become permanently affordable.
