Annual Meeting of the Membership

 

Your attendance is requested for the next Annual Meeting of the Membership to be held Friday, March 18, 6:00 p.m., in the St. Theresa Church Social Hall in South Lake Tahoe, CA. On the Agenda will be the election of four board members and setting membership dues for the next fiscal year. A quorum is needed - if you can only attend one meeting this year make this the one!

   Please contact our office manager, to nominate a board member. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the Membership Meeting.         

   Four positions are up for election this year. The following incumbents have already been nominated:

STAR representatives donate CAR funds to St. Joseph CLT

 

South Tahoe Association of Realtors Donate $25,000  to Land Trust Home

Demonstration Home Donors

Thank you to the following donors for their support of our first demonstration home in Al Tahoe.

Mark Allione, Architect, South Lake Tahoe, created the plans for the Land Trust demonstration home at a favorable rate.

 

Turner and Associates Inc.

 

Turner and Associates Inc., Stateline NV, very generously donated a survey of the property on Tallac and Riverside Avenue to the Land Trust.

   In October, the California Association of Realtors (CAR) awarded a grant of $25,000 to Saint Joseph Community Land Trust toward the development of a moderate-income single family home demonstration project in South Lake Tahoe. This grant was made possible with the help of the South Tahoe Association of Realtors (STAR) who sponsored the grant to the state organization.

   The California Association of Realtors developed the Housing Affordability Fund in 2003, and has collected funds from all over California. The group selects projects that are exemplary to receive donations. STAR’s involvement with affordable housing began with the previous president, Gerry Reed, who started the housing affordability fund. Cheryl Murakami, South Tahoe Association of Realtors

local government relations chairperson, spearheaded the grant application with the assistant of the City of South Lake Tahoe Redevelopment and Housing Department. She went the extra mile in communication with CAR on the application. STAR is very proud that this project was awarded grant funds.

   The city of South Lake Tahoe has dedicated a vacant lot on the corner of Tallac and Riverside Avenues in Al Tahoe to the Saint Joseph Community Land Trust for the purpose of developing a moderate-income home. The structure is to be a single-story, three bedroom, two bath, two-car garage home. Moderate-income is defined as less than 120 percent of the area’s median income. An income limit of about $83,000 for a family of five would meet
