Saint Joseph Community Land Trust
Saint Joseph Community Land Trust is a democratically controlled nonprofit corporation with a mission to provide our community with a permanent inventory of decent and affordable housing. We are working to improve the quality of life for individuals and families who cannot otherwise afford housing, by acquiring real estate and developing programs to benefit communities in the Lake Tahoe Region. The philosophy and actions expressed by the Corporation recognize the dignity of each person and are rooted in the Roman Catholic teachings of social justice. The Corporation acknowledges the right of every person to have decent and dignified housing, and strives to create an inventory of quality homes that are permanently affordable.

Trust is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization seeking to promote affordable
housing for the residents of Tahoe at or below 80% of median income.
The Community Land Trust model helps keep housing affordable for future generations. Community Land Trust homeowners purchase their house but not the land (this lowers the purchase price). The land is leased from the land trust. When Community Land Trust homeowners sell their home, a percentage of the appreciated value stays with the house, so it's more affordable for future buyers. | |
